Uses for Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a food flavoring, perfume, incense and antivirus agent. It comes in stick, powder, and oil form, all of which we carry here at the Great American Spice Co.

Cinnamon is derived from the native trees of South East Asia, which include several varieties from the Cinnamomum genus family. The inner bark is cut from young branches of these trees and is quickly dried. Once cut and dried, the cinnamon naturally curls up into log shaped rolls. The cinnamon is cut again into 2-3 inch lengths before being sold on the market.

Cinnamon Bath Soak Recipe

If you enjoy the aroma of cinnamon, make a batch of Cinnamon scented bath salts and bask in a fragrant, soothing, bath soak:

Ingredients:

¼ - 1 tsp. essential oil for fragrance
1 cup sea salt, Epsom salt, baking soda, or a combination thereof

Instructions:

Mix the oil into the salt mixture and stir well to avoid clumping of the salts.
Let the mixture stand for 24 hours, so the cinnamon fragrance has time to permeate the salt.
Store it in a glass jar with a good lid.
Add 1 hand-full per bath for a soothing bath.
